NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DEACONS BIENNIAL CONFERENCE
CANBERRA THURSDAY 19 TO SUNDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2013
Theme: Go and make disciples of all the nations [Matt.28:19]
And be here to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the city of Canberra
Dear Deacons & Spouses, and the whole diaconal family.
I extend this personal invitation to you to attend our Conference to be hosted by the St John the Apostle Parish, Kambah A.C.T – a great venue with conference facilities, a lovely church, and a vibrant community who are keen to ensure we enjoy our stay.
We have reduced our costs to the bare minimum: Registration cost is only $275 per person and it will be a very balanced Conference for ALL participants - informative, educational and insightful, with plenty of time to discuss, reflect and socialise. Simply direct debit $100 per person in the BSB, and pay the rest upon arrival – see directions next page.
There will be an official Welcome on the Thursday evening, and the Archbishop of Canberra & Goulburn will address the gathering and celebrate the final Mass on Sunday.
Speakers will address specific aspects of the theme. These include Rev Deacon Bill T Ditewig PhD from the Diocese of Monterey – former national Coordinator for the permanent Diaconate in the US, published author on diaconate, and decorated former US Navy Commander, and Rev Dr Elio Capra from the Salesian Community who lectures in Liturgy and Sacramental Theology at CTU, Melbourne.
There will be a guided bus tour of some of the major highlights of the city on Saturday afternoon, and a catered Conference meal with a key-note speaker that evening.
We are offering limited billeting for the 3 days of the Conference – but let us know now if you wish to take advantage of this. Why not stay independently for a few days before or afterwards' But remember,it is the centennial year, so you need to book now.
